Eye Exams for All Ages

Good vision care habits are built from a young age. At Insights Optical, we provide comprehensive eye exams for your children to help familiarize them with a trip to the eye doctor.

Vision care is essential for the whole family, and our team at Insights Optical strives to instill good, consistent habits from a young age. An early examination can help us detect developing vision issues or eye disease.

Your children can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere when you visit us for your vision care needs. Ready to book an eye exam for your child? Contact us today to book it with us.

The Importance of Early Eye Exams

Along with determining your child’s unique prescription, early eye exams can help our team familiarize themselves with your child’s vision. Children won’t always notice something wrong with their vision, and that’s why it’s essential for parents and caregivers to monitor and report potential vision problems.

Untreated visual problems can have an affect on your child’s development and hinder learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Some common signs and symptoms that can indicate vision problems include:

  • Frequent squinting
  • Double vision
  • Frequent headaches
  • Excessive eye rubbing or blinking

If you notice these signs or symptoms or suspect that your child is having visual issues, contact us to book an eye exam as soon as possible.

Children’s Eye Exam Frequency

Children’s vision is ever-changing, and monitoring development is essential. The American Optometric Association recommends the following eye exam frequency for children:

  • First exam at 6 to 12 months of age
  • At least 1 exam between 3 and 5 years of age
  • 1 exam before first grade and annually from 6 through 17 years of age

Depending on your children’s vision needs, your eye doctor may recommend additional eye exams throughout the years if needed.

Our Approach to Children’s Eye Exams

Our team at Insights Optical puts the patient experience first. We use diagnostic technology to help get a detailed picture of your children’s vision situation. Our approach to eye exams is centered around your children’s vision needs.

Myopia Control

Myopia (nearsightedness) is a common condition that makes far away objects appear blurry. Myopia is corrected with prescription glasses or contact lenses, and our team strives to slow myopia down and prevent it from getting worse through consistent eye exams.

Retinal Imaging Difference

Optomap Retinal Imaging is an essential part of every eye exam we complete at Insights Optical. By taking a high-definition photo of the back of your eye, called the retina, we can gain valuable information about your health.

In less than 1 second, Optomap allows us to take a 200o photo that gives an ultrawide 82% view of your retina all at once. Retinal imaging not only helps us find signs of eye diseases, but can tell us if you’re at risk of other health issues like stroke, heart disease, and diabetes
